Primary and Repeat Cesarean

Repeat cesareans for those who decline or are not candidates for a trial of labor are usually scheduled at 39 weeks gestational age or later, depending on the labor unit schedule and the patient’s wishes.

Patients electing repeat cesarean instead of vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) may be seen by the CNMs for routine visits if they wish, but visits are usually limited to the physicians, especially in the third trimester.
